5 Things I Would STOP Doing To Achieve My Health & Fitness Goals in 2026

The new year is here, and maybe you’re starting to plan out your health and fitness goals for 2026. Whether you’re embarking on a brand new fitness journey or are simply building on the momentum you’ve built in 2025, here are the 5 things I would STOP DOING to ensure I’m successful in 2026.
1. Stop consuming so much fitness content
There is a massive amount of information online. Whether it’s your favourite YouTuber, a random health podcast you stumbled on, or an infographic on Instagram, there’s no shortage of health and fitness content online. This can be great… but it can also create a lot of confusion. Try to stick with one source, and if you’re working with a coach or trainer, block out the external noise and focus on the plan they’ve designed just for you.
2. Stop thinking your body is fighting you
The health and fitness industry is always out to make more money, and the best way for them to do that? Convince you you’re inherently broken. The truth is, building muscle and losing fat is a scientific process. Your body doesn’t want to spite you. As long as you’re consistent with whichever program you’re following, the results will come! Be patient and remember - where the mind goes, the body follows.
3. Stop looking for shortcuts
Quick fixes, like crash diets or juice cleanses, can provide drastic and immediate results (because you’re literally starving yourself!). But they don’t teach healthy and sustainable habits that will yield lifelong physique changes. Slow, steady, and boring plans tend to yield lasting results and leave you in a much healthier state than the latest fad diet being touted on TikTok.
4. Stop repeating negative cycles
Constantly trapped in the cycle of binge, guilt, restrict, and repeat? You’re not alone! But it’s up to you to analyze why you fall into that trap and take meaningful steps to break the cycle. What didn’t work for you in the past year probably won’t work in the new year, and it’s time to take inventory of the current mindsets, habits, and protocols that are preventing you from achieving your goals.
5. Stop putting yourself down
Most importantly, it’s time to look at your mindset. Are you constantly doubting yourself, picking yourself apart, or expecting yourself to fail? To successfully achieve any goal in 2026, you NEED to become your biggest fan. A positive mindset is crucial to building resiliency, so even on the bad days, you’ll be able to pick yourself back up and try again.
As we set out on a new year, make sure you reflect on 2025. What worked well for you? What can you let go of? Where can you improve? Celebrate the wins and analyze the losses - and most importantly, set yourself up with some realistic goals for the new year. YOU GOT THIS!
